As every year, Algeria's digital report for 2025 has been published by Datareportal, highlighting trends and developments in digital usage across the country. Here are the key takeaways from this latest edition.

Growth in Mobile Subscriptions and Internet Access

The number of mobile lines has reached 54.8 million, marking an increase of 3 million compared to the previous year. Internet usage is also progressing, with 36.2 million users, representing 76.9% of the population, compared to 33.49 million in 2024.

Social Media: Facebook and TikTok Lead the Way

Facebook remains the most popular social platform with 25.6 million users, closely followed by TikTok, which has seen spectacular growth, rising from 17.42 to 21.1 million users. Instagram continues to grow, reaching 12 million users.

Other platforms show fluctuations: YouTube has slightly declined to 21.1 million users from 22.8 million the previous year, while Snapchat has grown to 9.11 million users (compared to 7.88 million in 2024). LinkedIn has recorded significant growth, reaching 4.8 million subscribers compared to 3.9 million last year. However, X (formerly Twitter) has seen a decline, dropping to 1.13 million users after surpassing 1.24 million in 2024.

Internet Speed: Fixed Internet Improves, Mobile Declines

The average mobile Internet speed stands at 23.42 Mbps, registering a 5.2% decrease, while fixed Internet speed has increased to 15.05 Mbps, showing a 22.2% rise.

Search Trends: Interest in Translation and Music

Google remains the dominant search engine, holding 97.17% of the market share. The most searched query by Algerians in 2024 remains "Translation," while on YouTube, the most popular search terms continue to be "song" and "songs."
